Long before Sheik Yerbouti, Frank had perfected the art of assembling album sides into masterpiece musical montages. On Sheik, Frank had his band in incredibly fine form and his satire was as sharped-edged as ever. These songs are not for the timid - I witnessed people walking out of the live shows each time he played "Broken Hearts", but to me, they were only words meant to shock people out of their late-70's complacency.

Sheik has some of Frank's best known hits, including Bobby Brown, Baby Snakes, Dancin' Fool and Jewish Princess, each like a laser-guided bomb aimed at different targets including homosexuals, the recording industry, disco and Jewish women. His pencil had a sharp point and some were wounded by its impact.

Also included are anti-drug statements (City of Tiny Lights) and a song about teen suicide (Tryin' to Grow a Chin) plus award-winning guiutar solos (Yo Mama). Essential Zappa, the whole package - what a masterpiece!
