I tried as hard as I could to like this CD, but have failed. Garbage self titled was an amazing rock CD with a decidedly dark, sometimes vunerable, core. Their follow up Version 2.0 is a CD you can listen to like once a day and never get sick of. So when Beautiful Garbage came out I bought a copy expecting the same brilliance, I should have listened to it before buying it, by the second track I wasn't sure if it was the right band!

I'm not a person who criticizes bands for taking up a new direction, but I hate it when a good band totaly sells out and there is no other way of explaining this CD. The songs are all boring pop music that is obviously a grab at the profitable comercially driven music market.

This CD will ultimately backfire on the band as they cannot hope to gain as many fans as they will lose with this CD, as they already have an established 'look' and will never crack the mainstream market like the Britney Spears/Backstreet boys type fare that dominates the charts.

The one star rating was for the song Cherry Lips because it has a quirky quality that like most novelties quickly wheres off. The rest of the tracks are complete throw-aways.

As far as I can imagine, the members of the band were kidnapped by forces unknown and replaced by corporate clones that released this souless pop CD under the guise of "Beautiful". Hopefully the Garbage we know and love will be returned soon.
