Garbage

Version 2.0

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (8/10)
I don't normally go for the acidic tripe that passes for '90's depth - (it is usually pretentious beyond belief and substitutes neoluddite anti-establishment drivel for substance), but I caught Garbage's "World is Not Enough" and took a chance on this CD.

Garbage pulls off a neat trick - inserting nihlist, cynical lyrics into an energetic, but not quite dance-club format. While I shudder to think that there are real human beings that may encounter Ms. Manson, the naive elegance she brings to her music is priceless.

Sum total: Version 2.0 is brutal and somehow comforting. This is about as close to substance as popular music has been in a while. If you dig classic rock / early metal, but can't stand to hear "Comfortably Numb" one more time - and indulged a secret pleasure in listening to New Wave ala "Melt With You" or (even) "Lucky Number" then you may enjoy this CD.
