Garth Brooks

Double Live

Sounds like a bad bootleg.

I was at the record shop before the doors opened to buy this, but I must say I'm disappointed. The songs are undeniably great. The sound quality is terrible. You can hear Garth's voice great, but the band is all but drowned out. It sounds like a live recording of the band with Garth doing karaoke over the top. Shameless, one of the best live songs Garth does, loses all it's force due to the drums sounding like muffled cardboard boxes and the guitars sounding like someone sneaked on stage and turned the volume down to about 2. Standing Outside the Fire maintains a little of its "umph," but overall, this much-hyped album sounds like a bad bootleg. There is also a lot of annoying editing, such as slurring from a studio take of a song into the live version, mid-verse. I was also disappointed that most of Garth's comments were ommitted. Anyway, I'm not going to buy some special machine to "watch" this album so let me know when Garth's "Double Live with Decent Sound" comes out. THAT will be a masterpiece. THIS is a lame effort to keep the fans complacent.
