I really miss the old 'Garth Brooks' music. I'm not a die hard country fan, but I've been with Garth since the very begining (I think I was about 10 years old then). I guess I'm a bit disappointed with this album and still holding onto his first few albums.

But, let's face it, Garth could record an album full of absolute junk and the public would buy enough copies to make it go platinum... go figure. (and am I the only one who think's Chris Gaines sounds exactly like Brooks singing country music but only after being kicked in the groin?) Oh, well, but I guess it was an interesting way to make a little side money.

But, he does have a few excellent songs on Scarecrow:

1. Why Ain't I running (it sort of reminds me of his earlier songs like What She's Doing Now, The Beaches of Cheyenne, and Somewhere Other than the Night

2. The Storm (really great song) again, typical older Garth Brooks

3. Mr. Midnight another excellent song from the album that evolks memories of his first three albums

4. When you Come Back to Me Again (from the movie Frequency). I'm really glad this song was one of his albums,it's an extremely powerful song in which I think everyone can identify with in some way, shape or form if they have ever lost someone they've loved. Again, is reminecent of songs like The Dance, The River, That Summer etc.

As for the rest of the album it isn't bad, if you don't like his songs like American Honkey Tonk Bar Association, Longneck Bottles, The Fever, etc you probably won't like the rest of the album.

One song, called "Beer Run" has Garth singing with a guest artist, and even amazon.com has the artist labled wrong. It's Sammy Kershaw singing with him. Other users on here have him down as George Straight, George Jones and many others, but im nearly 100% sure its Sammy Kershaw (another excellent artist).
