Give this Scarecrow more heart...

I am a relatively new Garth fan, and I respect this man like no other star I have in a long time. I was excited about this CD, knowing that this was some sort of farewell thing and all...and after hearing a LOT of the man's stuff prior to this, I must say that it just seems to measure up - barely. Mind you, I really like this CD, however knowing this legend's status and talent, I guess I was expecting a more energetic, emotional send-off. Instead we get a rather 'medium heat' thing, with some truly memorable duets.

My only hope is that Garth does come back with a mit full of new stuff after being in retirement for x years. It just seemed to me that a man like him, who seemingly loves to perform for 'the people' - and seems to really enjoy it himself - could not stay away for too long. However, my recommendation is that a magic musician like Garth should take a break - and we can only hope for something more like the 'Lion' than the 'Scarecrow'. Heck, even super bands like Pink Floyd used to take several years between releases, and they were (pretty much) all worth the wait...I'll wait (with less 'Strait' please) Garth...In the meantime, please interpret this review as a constructive, yet positive one...
