mature music for the evening
Review Score:

(10/10)
This is again a masterpiece for this Dutch rockband. Actually, this is their best and most mature album they've made. The music is less heavy this time, but is very serene, calm and with some of their very best songs ever made. Violins, cello and other instruments are used to make the listener feel emotionally involved with the music. Sometimes it sounds a bit like the old and famous DEAD CAN DANCE - just as emotional, spiritual and mature. The music also sounds like the Norwegian band IN THE WOODS... (CD's: Omnio, Strange in stereo & Three times seven on a pilgrimage!), although that band is actually a bit better, more emotional, more psychedelic and more experimental. I think a lot of Gathering-fans would like this band, just as they would like bands like Tiamat, Anathema and Dutch band Within Temptation (cd: mother earth). To conclude: listen to The Gathering - a lot of times, in the evening with a glass of red wine, with your (girl)friend anfd with the right mood!
