I don't claim to be all-knowing when it comes to metal, but I know good music when I hear it, and Mandylion is GOOD music. To anyone who attempts to compare Anneke's vocals to Amy Lee's - are you deaf? Seriously... "sounds like she's at an American Idol audition" How pathetic. I find it hard to believe that anyone could truly come up with such rubbish. I'm sure even a child could tell the difference between Amy Lee's weak nasal croning and Anneke's heavenly, powerful voice. And this is coming from a fan of Evanescence. I admit it, I like their music/Amy's voice. But Mandylion far surpasses that. It's ethereal, atmospheric, powerful, epic - whatever you want to call it. Although it has a rather short track list, I absolutely recommend this album to any fans of Melodic Metal, Metal with Female Vocalists, or even lover's of hard rock or Classical.

If you like this album you may also like Lacuna Coil and Nightwish. Or Opeth and Tristania if you like the music but like Death Metal vocals as well.
