Those who compare The Gathering to Evanescence are walking blindly through the metal field that they apparently know NOTHING about. Even comparing Lacuna Coil to The Gathering...it's not valid. These bands are in different spectras of music. And don't even dare to say Amy Lee's voice is technically perfect, or that it is better than Anneke's voice. Number One, they have different singing styles...Number Two, Amy Lee has the weakest female vocals I have ever heard next to Britney Spears. It's alright for singing in the shower. But she's not up to par with the real women of metal. Sure, The Gathering abandoned their doom metal roots, but please, do not insult Mandylion! It is original and excellent. Those who cannot see that, obviously are rookies in the metal scene. Mandylion is deservedly a greatly respected album.
