(10/10)This started it all for The Gathering. Sure, they had some albums before this but this put them on the map. This is the perfect blend of truely heavy atmoshperic metal with truely beautiful vocals. Great songwriting, great lyrics, enormous creativity and skill. In my opinion, this is their best album. This is just so true to metal and their later releases, while excellent, lean a little farther away from metal with every CD. Nothing wrong with that, this is just cooler if you ask me. Its so strange that they could be so admired by extreme metal fans and commercial rock fans at the same time. I guess that attests to their brilliance.
