Abacab

Genesis's pop masterpiece

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (10/10)
After moving steadily away from thier art rock roots over the course of several albums, Genesis delivered "Abacab," which is the best of their radio-friendly albums of the 1980s. Phil Collins had not yet become ominpresent on the airwaves as he would later on when his solo career kicked into high gear. "Man on the Corner," "No Reply at All" and the title track are all excellent singles and are supported by fine album tracks like "Keep it Dark," and "Dodo/Lurker," the latter of which retains a little of the old art rock experimentation. Overall, "Abacab" is the high point of this vetrean band's long career.
