Genesis weathered Peter Gabriel's departure quite well. The output from the remaining quartet was really quite exceptional. It was Hackett's departure that proved to sound the death knell for the band. This recording is really their entry into the unimaginative realm of pop music that they would quickly lose themselves within. The songs are weak, the lyrics trite and the musicianship dull and uninspired. Pity they didn't just pack it in rather than drag the good name of Genesis through the mud for more than a decade recording disposable pop rubbish.
