Just As good as the Gabriel Era! With one outright pop song.

Okay, Sure the albums of the Gabriel era and the two post Gabriel albums "Trick of the Tail" and "Wind and Wuthering" were influential, outstanding and creative beyond many works of the progressive rock genre, but to dismiss "And Then There Were Three" as a pop album or less creative would be shortsighted. The album relates alittle with "duke" because there is a different vibe than earlier work. The emphasis is on sound, a larger sound especially with the textures created by Banks as well Rutherfords style of guitar playing, which is simpler than Hacketts but still creates some great sounds and Tones. Phil's Drumming is always exceptional and inventive, just try and drum along with "Down and Out." My opinion is "Go West Young Man, Down and Out, Burning Rope, Lady Lies, and many too many" could easily rank well amoung their best songs. Just because their shorter songs, doesn't mean they lack integrity. Listen to the Remastered Version With Head Phones, not many bands can create this type of Cinematic Sound as gracefully as Genesis. I Do Admit that "Follow you, Follow Me" was surely concieved as a hit single, but I think its still a great song to end the album.
