A Modern Rock Masterpiece

No other album has ever influenced my musical tastes as much as "The Lamb". The very idea of presenting such elaborate and surreal ideas in musical form is worth the praise alone. Genesis creates a strange fantasy scenario and proceeds to illustrate it with their brand of progressive music, which by this time has become highly polished and very intricate. There was no music during that time period that could match such virtuosity. It's hard to believe that this was a band on the verge of collapse but thankfully they got this one out before the change. Several of the Genesis albums after Peter Gabriel's departure did actually retain some of the original spirit but eventually they disintegrated into a Phil Collins pop machine. Sorry for that jab but when you have The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway in your system, it's hard to accept cheesy forms of anything in our culture.I just wish there was someone making life-effecting music like this today.
