Lack of Gabriel opens new doors for Genesis

I do believe the Gabriel genesis is a better genesis than Phil's. However I respect Phil's approach on this album, the lyrics still have a british flair, and the members of Genesis still have great storytelling and interesting things to say. The only bad thing i see happening with the absense of Gabriel is the pop format the songs are taking. I like the spontaneous, unpredictable style of Gabriel, it is unlike anything i've ever heard. But now without him, Genesis takes the opprotunity to introduce their personalities, which is hard to except after the flamboyant Gabriel's reign. Although this album is a little more pop produced, i can't deny them of writing great music that's fun and enjoyable, it's just not the same experience without Gabriel's presence.
