Prior to the release of "Cloud Nine", George Harrisons last solo album in 1982 "Gone Troppo", was his biggest commercial failure. It took George 5 years to respond with another album, and respond he did. "Cloud Nine", was met with rave reviews, and was being called his best solo outing since "All Things Must Pass". The album is full of upbeat rockers, and well written tunes, that make the listener want to sing right along with George. The title track, features some awesome slide guitar work by George, and that is just the beginning. Eric Clapton, Elton John, Ringo Starr and Jeff Lynne are just some of the supporting cast. Even the ballad "That's What it Takes", has plenty of gusto. Songs like "This Is Love"[could have also been a major hit with some airplay], "Wreck of The Hesperus", Devil's Radio", and "When We Was Fab", are all top notch grade "A" material that helps give the cd a feeling, that every tune could have been released as a single. The cd also features the smash hit "Got My Mind Set On You". "Cloud Nine, proved to be his biggest selling album since "All Things Must Pass". This remastered edition, features, quality sound, two bonus tracks and new liner notes and photo's. The two bonus cuts "Shanghai Surprise" and the Cab Calloway sounding "Zig Zag", are actually quite enjoyable. This album is all quality, and one of the finest albums George Harrison has ever made. The other must have Harrison reissue, is his 1976 debut for dark Horse records, "Thirty Three And A Third".
