Simply put, this album is mediocre at best.

I want to give Good Charlotte more credit than this, I really do, but they haven't earned it. I'm sure they're a nice group of guys, too, but this album is just a complete joke.

The sad part is, they could probably be at least better than a mediocre joke of a band if they didn't listen to their corporate bosses, practiced their instruments, took a creative writing class, took a good, long look in the mirror, and purchased a book on songwriting.

I know people who enjoy Good Charlotte, and I can't see why. Maybe because it's catchy, but after a few listens it becomes redundant mush. I have nothing against the people who enjoy it, either, because that is their choice, but in my opinion the music is standard, formulaic, watered-down corporate 'pop-punk'. The same 3 chords over and over, the same harmonies, melodies and rythms.

People might say that about bands like the Queers, Screeching Weasel and the Huntingtons (etc.), but those bands are fun and inspired by the Ramones, and they do experiment with their music, unlike Good Charlotte whose lyrics are simply boring, contrived, and are constantly trying to look like wet, meloncholy dogs that someone smeared with eyeliner and hair wax. Maybe if they stopped playing with Kelly Osbourne and Bozo the Clown's make-up they could concentrate on playing their instruments and writing better lyrics. Just check out the lyrics for "Riot Girl"... Oh, wait, you can't - Good Charlotte's ultra-corborate-money-chasing major label won't allow you to!

The lyrics are boring and not creative at all - in fact, they're so cheesy it's embarassing. This is definately music for the Hot Topic Set.
I just can't enjoy it no matter how much I could force myself to.

I suppose it is okay if you are a braindead teenage girl concerned only with image and banging the local "edgy goth boy", but if you're a thinking person with real taste in punk rock and music in general (and I'm not talking about the New Found Glory, Ataris, Sum 41, Blink-182, Billy Talent grabage trying to pass as mediocre pop-punk), I suggest picking up something else.
