jesus. i never thougth id see the day when the only rock on tv is sh tty poser bands such as GC. lyrics used to mean something. but now they are about being abused by your girlfriend and daddy. i thought the boy band craze ended with NSYNC. i guess i was sadly mistaken. a quick history of REAL punk: the punk movement started in britain in the 1970s when britain was in extreme economical distress leaving many people without much money. to make money, they formed smalltown bands to support their families. much of their clothing was very rag-tag and genuine, not something you can buy at hot topic for 20 bucks that some kid in indonesia made. thanks to the sex pistols, the punk movement quickly traveld over to america where it was a huge hit. over the years, some capitolistic genius decided that it would be a good idea to make money off this idea by selling overpriced tshirts and pants with the word PUNK or some other logo dealing with real punk rock. now take into accont the first punk rockers in britain, little money, and a family to support. FAST FORWARD TO PRESENT DAY. good charlotte, blink 182, new found glory, simple plan, and the like have none of the real punk qualities, growing up with rich families who have free health care. back when real punk was alive and well they sang about anarchy, rebellion, etc. NOW they sing about telling you not to commit suicide (might as well write a f*ckin country song.. while ur writing this you can talk about how your dog got hit by your uncle jimbos truck and how george bush is right about invading iraq). to sum it up, good charlotte and their fellow modern boy bands that play their own instrumetns (or do they?) calling themselves and dressing as punks can go screw themselves while the rest of our sad, mislead generation listen to usher and beyonce. ugh....
