Buying this CD was one of the biggest mistakes I've made when it comes to buying CD's. Usually when I listen to a CD I've just bought I will not give it any less than 2.5 stars (and the rating either generally stays the same after repeated listens or goes higher). This album is an exception.

I am not into bashing bands who actually play their own instruments, because this means that they actually have talent (unlike Britney Spears). However in the case of GC, they do not put this talent to good use.

Okay, so it's December 2002 and I hear "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous". I'm thinking hey, that's a pretty sweet song with funny lyrics, and it's bloody catchy. April 2003 I hear "The Anthem". While not as good as LOTRAF, It still had a nice message and was catchy. June of that same year, out comes "Girls & Boys", which was my favourite song from this band to date, with it's mock 80's vibes and catchy chorus, although it's lyrics were kinda dodgey.

So what do I do? In September of that year I buy the album.
Big Mistake.

The rest of the album was very ordinary, with only 'story of my old man' making much of an impression on me, as it sounded like some of Blink 182's decent songs (which are also few and far between). The rest just didn't have the...'punkness' I was expecting which I got out of bands like NoFX and the album's singles (If anything they play punk-pop...Pop with a punkish edge ,not pop-punk which is Punk with Pop overtones (If ya know what I mean). Also by that stage I had grown out of my Linkin Park's and Limp Bizkit's and other rubbish that I loved just 12 months earlier. Repeated listens did not change my view one bit. Very disappointing.

It's not unlistenable, or as bad as some people say it is(trust me, Britney Spears and Backstreet Boys...those sorts are far worse). But It's still pretty generic and boring.
