Leaving with their heads up high...
Review Score:

(8/10)
This effort shows a new Gorefest, more polished and refined, more rockier. Their music can be described as "metal of the 90s", aggressive(less aggressive than their first effort) and powerful sound. It's 100% heavy metal, but forget to find "Mindloss"-type songs. J.C. sings with his ussual, thick, strong voice, and with a clean voice in the melancholical and quiet songs. In this album, the guys have the chance to show their musical skills, more than in the previous efforts; let's say that this album has more variety, more melodies and climates; fast and slow songs(don't worry, no ballads).
The band gave a 180ยบ spin to their music, and sound mainly, (something that barely happens in the genre, when it comes to originality and innovation) adding 90's elements (more evident in the slow songs), without sounding precisely "alternative" and their approach remaining very hard and heavy. That's why I consider this release much more interesting than the previous one, "Soul Survivor". I believe that after "Soul Survivor" the band was in some sort of creative dead-end. They didn't want to repeat themselves so, "Chapter 13" is the result of such seeked change. Unfortunately, the band broke-up after the album's tour. It could have been nice and really interesting a follow up.
Anyway, Gorefest final release. A different album to end their career, which I think should please new and old fans...Give it a try!!!
