Her styles of music can be vastly different and it is easy to love one of her styles, while hating the others. I am a big fan of her new wave/electronica music. On this CD, she does a fantastic job on the Pretender's Private Life, and Roxy Music's Love Is The Drug. She even makes the song Walking In the Rain enjoyable. Her Jamaican accent and Raggae influenced electronic beat make the songs enjoyable to listen to and dance to.
I am not a big fan of her pop and disco phase. Most of it is boring and derivative. It does not make good use of her voice. Grace Jones is an innovative musician; she is not a popstar.
This compilation CD probably won't please anyone. Fans of her disco/pop work should get her earlier albums like Portfolio. Those who like her experimentations should get Warm Leatherette. If you want performance art, get Slave To the Rhythm.
