One Of The Worst Grand Funk Albums Ever!
Review Score:

(4/10)
By the release of "Good Singin', Good Playin'" in 1976 (which oddly enough was produced by Frank Zappa), Grand Funk Railroad had already begun it's downhill spiral. The release of "All The Girls In The World Beware" in 1974 (which in my opinion, was the weakest album they'd recorded) was a disappointment even though it did include several hits with "Some Kind Of Wonderful" and "Bad Time", both of which were the two best songs on the album. Unfortunately, "Good Singin', Good Playin'" shows the band struggling, especially in the songwriting department, the spark that produced their classic albums "Grand Funk" (red album), "Closer To Home", "E Pluribus Funk", "Survival" and "We're An American Band" was long gone. "Don't Let 'Em Take Your Gun", "Out To Get You", and "Crossfire" all sound like songs that weren't good enough to be on the other albums. The best song on the entire album is the first track "Just Couldn't Wait" and the worst being the horrible Zappa sounding "Rubberneck". It's a shame that Grand Funk ran out of steam by the mid-seventies as the talent was certainly there, but perhaps their legal problems with ex-producer Terry Knight may have had something to do with it. My suggestion would be to buy Grand Funk's earlier cd's and skip this one altogether.
