There's a reason why this album is up for the top awards at the Grammys. It's good. Who cares about the politics involved. That's not the whole fricken album. Yes, that's part of it but if you Republican George Bush lovers would open your minds(which I know may be hard for you) and actually listen to the album instead of writing it off based on one song you may actually like it. There's much more than politics involved. If someone wants to explain to me how "Wake Me Up When September Ends" or "Blvd. of Broken Dreams" is bashing the president or the government I'll listen. I find it bashing American culture in general as much as the government.

Now I really enjoy all the songs on the album, but the tracks that stick out to me are: American Idiot, Jesus of Suburbia, Holiday, Blvd. of Broken Dreams, St. Jimmy, and Wake Me Up When September ends. I like the lyrics of American Idiot and the general sound. When I first saw the video I thought "wow why haven't I gotten into Green Day sooner?" Then I heard Blvd. of Broken Dreams on the radio and decided I HAD to get the CD. Since many have heard the first two singles I'll describe my other favorites. Jesus of Suburbia is like a 5-in-1 song. All the parts are mid-fast tempo. St. Jimmy is a fast paced song(actually reminded me of some older blink 182 at first), and Wake Me Up When September Ends is a ballad. It hasn't left my CD player since. Now I can't compare the album to the "old Green Day" as some say, but their "new" sound or whatever is awesome. If you are a fan of punk pop/rock then I would highly suggest checking out the CD. Overall I'd give this album an "A" grade, and ranks as one of the best albums I've bought ever. Here's to Green Day to winning album of the year at the Grammys!!!
