On of the best rock albums.... EVER!!
Review Score:

(10/10)
This album first of all, was never going to happen. It was stolen mid-way through and featured songs that Green Day was prestigious for. This new album has show how much more mature they have gotten since their Dookie days. Most people have heard "Blvd. of Broken Dreams" and "American Idiot" on the radio, and not much else. I'm here to tell you about each song. A lot of this album is in sections, because Green Day, when starting over, starting writing 30 second segments, until they eventually got a rock opera. The whole CD runs smoothly, and I'll basically tell you about each song.
American Idiot - Don't judge the CD based on this CD. The rest of the CD sounds nothing like this. This song is somewhat like their older stuff, but not very good. The lyrics are pretty good, and kind of dis at all the things that we as Americans take for granted and make us stupid. This song was just average. ~7.5/10~
Jesus of Suburbia - This song is incrdibly intersting. It is over 9 minutes long, and in 5 parts. They are kind of political and religious, but also kind of sad. It kind of starts off the tone of the rest of the CD about a kid named Jimmy who seems to be at a cross roads. Each part is very catch and well written. He kind of lashes out at the end, and gets you pumped. This song transitions so many times, and each time you think its a new song, but is one of my favorites despite that. ~9.0/10~
Holiday - this starts are really good, but kind of turns out differently. It isn't another long song, but sounds good none the less. This sounds almost nothing like classic Green Day, but is still a great song. Once again very well written and a little political (kind of hidden). Not one of the better songs on the album, but still great. ~8.5/10~
Boulevard of Broken Dreams - I haven't heard a Green Day song this good since Good Riddence. This is definately my favorites song on the album. Its so relatable to everyone, and is great to listen to when you are feeling down. It is an anthem to anyone who feels lonely and sad inside, and wish they had someone to "walk" with. FANTASTIC song. ~10/10~
Are We Waiting - This song is kind of slow but pretty damn good. Its a little slower than "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" but also good to listen to when your down. Its about being "lost" within yourself, and trying to find something to keep you going. I like this song, but a lot of people I know didn't like it. This song is kind of an aquired taste type thing. ~8.5/10~
St. Jimmy - A great transition to something a little faster. Very Green Day. Not very corky, but fast and has a lot of guitar, and fast drum in the back. This song isn't written as good, but does kind of tell you about Jimmy, most representative, but you will get the point. This is a fun song, and Green Day fans will love this. ~9.0/10~
Give Me Novacaine - One of the best written songs I've ever seen. Everyone has experienced a time when they were at the lowest, and this embraces that. Its both slow and fast, but very different from Green Day. The song is about how you deal with your pains (mentally and physically) and how eventually Jimmy eventually needed novacaine to get rid of this pain. ~9.0/10~
She's A Rebel - Very Green Day once again. Not greatly written, but fast and gets you going after having a slow song before it. Its very catchy, and has a lot of guitar, and not that much vocal. Its still a great song, but not one of the best. ~8.0/10~
Extraordinary Girl - Starts of VERY slow, and then sound a little Arabian. This song is relatable (mostly to women) but not that great. The writting is pretty good, but I still have to give it a decent/good score instead of a great score. ~8.0/10~
Letterbomb - I liked this song; it was pretty fast song, but not too fast. The writing is very good, but took me a while to get it. It kind of went back to its theme after stepping off for a couple of tracks. This song is kind of a cross roads for Jimmy, and one of the better songs on the album. ~9.0/10~
Wake Me Up When September Ends - a slow, slow song, but very good. This song seems kind of emotional, and kind of depressing. The songs one of the best written songs on the CD, and shows how much Billy has grown up since his Dookie days. He seems to have been through a lot more, and kind of open his heart for this song. This is one of the best songs on the album ~9.5/10~
Homecoming - Starts off slow, but picks up after about 45 seconds, but never gets really intense. The songs is very well written, is kind of shows how St. Jimmy should be remembered with praise. This is a long long song. Another song over 9 minutes. It has a lot of styles in it, but somehow comes together. This one isn't as organized as Jesus of Suburbia, but just as good. ~9.0/10~
Whatshername - This song is kind of disappointing for the last song of the album, but pretty good. The song is written pretty good, but not very catchy. The song does give off a lot of emotion from Billy, but I never really enjoyed it. This song is just good. ~8.0/10~
