Green Day

American Idiot

Without a doubt... Album Of The Year 2004

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (10/10)
As a recovering Punk Rocker, I know what the idealogy behind Punk Rock has always been, be yourself. Sadly, most people don't have a clue as to whom they are. This album covers all of those bases, from the title track where Jimmy decides what he doesn't want to be. All the way to Whatshername, where reliving the past becomes a pasttime, even if he doesn't want to remember the person he shared this past with. In between, we have chest pounding I know I am but not really attitude in all five parts of Jesus of Suburbia, to soul searching and confusion in Boulevard of Broken Dreams and Are We the Waiting. Then finding love, and losing love, in She's A Rebel and Letterbomb respectively. This is the album Green Day fans, and the rest of the world, have been waiting for. It's got something for everyone... and everything for the most true of Punk Rockers, the ones who know that the whole ideal of Punk Rock, is to be themselves, even if they're not sure who they are.
