American Idiot is a different sounding Green Day. But it is still good. My favorite song on here is of course the still punkish title track American Idiot. And Boulevard Of Broken Dreams has grown on me as I am sure Holiday will too. The epic 9 minute songs are surprising good too. I prefer the 9 minute song Jesus Of Surburbia over the other 9 minute song Homecoming. St. Jimmy and She's A Rebel still sound punk, which is a great thing. Are We The Waiting is another great ballad which is destined to be a hit. Give Me Novacaine grew on me after a few listens to it. Extraordinary Girl and Letterbomb have not yet proven themselves to me to be great songs. Wake Me Up when September Ends is another great ballad. Whatsername is growing on me too.

I think everyone should buy this cd, whether you're a Green Day fan or not. Let it grow on you with each listen, like it does more and more every time I listen to it.
