Green Day says "Good Riddance" to the punk scene

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (10/10)
Who can forget Green Day, the almighty punk band that ruled the music scene from 1994-1996. With thousands upon thousands of fans, records sales numbering in upper millions and a talent unsurpassed by many others of that time, they were on top of the world. But along with their success came hatred, from the punk fans who used to love the band, claiming they were now sell-outs. In "Nimrod" Green Day basically says "You don't like us? f*ck off then, we don't you either" and shakes their once immature punk image. After all this what do you have? why it's the Alternative Green Day, who are mature having learned their life lessons, and stand ready to write about them. I must say when you compare "Nimrod" to their earlier material such as "Dookie" and/or "Kerplunk" you can see an enormous change both lyrically and musically. Is this a good thing? no, is it a bad thing? nope, it all depends on your musical taste really. Those who didn't enjoy earlier Green Day may find themselves pleasantly suprised with this one, while those who loved them in their older days will probably want to give this one a listen first. I personally love this album, but I was also a fan of the earlier Green Day, so take that for what it's worth I guess. Top tracks include "Nice guys finish last", "Hitchin' a ride", "Scattered", "Platypus (I hate you)","King for a day","Good Riddance"(an amazing song) & "Prosthetic Head".
