Nimrod

Another Great Abum By Green Day

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (10/10)
Nimrod is a great album that shows Green Day slowly approaching the stage that they're at now with their latest album Warning. Nimrod shows Green Day's sound slowing down. However there is plenty of punk on this album for the old school Green Day fan. On this album Green Day also touches on many styles of music such as their normal pop punk style as well as ska, hardcore, and there is even an acoustic ballad. The first song on the album is Nice Guys Finish Last. This song is very upbeat and heavy if you will. The first single Hitchin A Ride follows, it begins with violin then turns into somewhat of a punk metal song. It's really hard to describe. The Grouch is a song about Billie not wanting to grow up to be like his dad. This song is very pop punk. Redundant is a slower song, it is amazing. Billie's singing about how hard it is to tell some one your sorry. When you listen to the lyrics you can tell that they have deep meaning. Scattered, Worry Rock and All the Time are all pop punk songs that sound like they could have been on Insomniac. Platypus is a very heavy song, like Green Day doing metal. Last Ride In is an instrumental that sounds very jazzy. It's a decent song, it also shows that they are not limited to one type of music which I think is great. A band should have diversity. Jinx and Haushinka are both heavy songs that run into each other so when listening to the album stragiht through they sound like one song. Walking Alone is probably my favorite song on the album. It is almost folky but it is an amazing song, very catchy with amazing lyrics. Reject sounds like it could have been off of Dookie. Take Back is Green Day's attempt at hardcore. Clocking in at a minute and nine seconds this song is pure insanity. They then go from one extreme to the next putting the song King for a Day next. This song is Green Day's attempt at ska. It features the horn players from No Doubt. the song tells the story of a cross dressing kid. The next song is the "hit" from the album Good Riddance. This song is amazing. No matter how many times I hear it or radio plays it I never get bored of it. The last song Prosthetic Head is a great way to close the album, it pretty much sums up the a cd and ties everything together. It begins with Billie Joe singing over clean tone guitar before kicking into the second part of the song which is not quite punk but it shows that they were in a growth stage. This album honestly was the hardest to write a review for, because it has so many different styles and it can't really be classified. I do however reccommend this album to anyone.

A great cd

Green Day has softened a bit in Nimrod but it is still a great CD. The members of Green Day have gone through a lot (for example, fatherhood [ ... read complete review ]
