Heather Nova

Oyster

Amazing voice, Amazing songs, Amazing CD

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (10/10)
I bought this album a couple years ago, shortly after it came out. The only song I had heard was "Walk This World", which caught my attention when I heard it on the radio. I expected other, similarly "rock-ish" songs, but in fact, most of the songs fall into a mellow pop/folk blend. Excellent instrumentation (you don't hear cellos all that much these days...) back up Heather's powerful soprano, and the lyrics to the songs are very strong, especially since Heather is a fairly young woman (early to mid 20's, I believe). Overall, this CD is one of the few I own that I have *never* tired of listening to in the two to three years I've owned it, and it ranks very high up on my list of favorites. If you like artists like Sarah McLachlan, Tori Amos, and Tara MacLean, I'd say there's a good chance you'll like this CD. File under "Ethereal folk-pop" :)
