In a world rife with grrrrrl power recording artists(which means teenagers singing other peoples' lyrics over other peoples' melodies while someone else produces and another person arranges, making the Monkees look like a real rock combo), this is one of the better examples. We are far from a renaissance of women who write/produce/perform their own material; luckily, this is a far better puppet act than, say, Tatu or Jessica Simpson.

It is true that Duff does not have the pipes of a hardcore singer; however, she only sounds fake on one track - where you can hear her yelling to the band, counting in, "ONE! TWO!..." On the rest of the album, from the excellent and edgy "Do You Want Me?" to the cloying "Rock this World", Duff sounds very good and very honest.

On that basis alone, that makes purchasing this album worthwhile (remember, Elvis didn't write his stuff either - but it was his passion of performance which connected him to his audience).

The production is top-notch, charmingly overblown and melodramatic at the same time.

Until women start their own labels and get their own acts in order, this'll have to do.
