Really, the only songs I found enjoyable were the two tracks I mentioned earlier (Come Clean & So Yesterday). I was very surprised, because looking in the liner notes, there were plenty of great songwriters and producers on this album, like John Shanks, Kara DioGuardi, and The Matrix, (among others) and over half of these songs are filler-ish.
I did actually enjoy "Workin' it Out," one of the better songs on this album. "Little Voice" was a little too young for me, but I could see it being appealing to a younger crowd. "Where Did I Go Right?" is a sweeter, softer song. "Party Up" did appeal to me. "Inner Strength" was a big disappointment.. seemed like a good message, but it's basically a recited poem to music. It's only a minute and a half-- not much of a song.
I think this album was to really test the waters for Hilary as a recording artist. Even though her voice is very thin, it seems to work on most of these songs. I've heard some of her newer material and her voice has become stronger, so I think her second time around will be worth a listen!
