Huey Lewis and The News

Plan B

The Heart of Rock and Roll IS Still Beatin'

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (10/10)
Huey and his crew have done it again! Although they disappeared from the top 40 in the late 1980s, they still continue to make dynamite records. My personal favorite song on the new album is "My Other Woman" which has a great duet with Huey's right hand man, Johnny Colla (who incidently just released his first solo album). Okay, so this album isn't "Fore!" and it's not even "Sports". What this album sounds like to me is a cross between "Hard At Play", the band's 1991 release, "Small World" (1988), and "Four Chords and Several Years Ago" (1994). The synthesizers have been replaced with conventional keyboards, and Chris Hayes Kahler guitar is shelved (this is his final album with the group). What the album offers is pure, raw, and solid rock and roll in the most diverse way possible.
