After Martyn Ware and Ian Marsh split to form Heaven 17, Phil revamped Human League with new members and a new sound. Granted the new sound got them plenty of MTV air time and a number one single, I think Human League lost a lot of the prestige it might of had. That aside DARE is still a solid album, the lyrical content is a little amatureish, but that is just Phil's writing style. It also is one of the first albums to be all synthesizers/Linn drumachine to have mass appeal (besides KRAFTWERK). Also with the New Wave sound came the fashion, in the "Don't you want me" video the band spends half the time showing off their fashionalbe wardrobe (who wounldn't though). The DARE album marks their ending point in inovations, they might of had minor chart sucess with other projects like "Keep Feeling (Fasination)," or the Hystria album, but none are really as insightful as Human League's first three albums.
