The but? It's more about what's missing from this effort, and that is The Indigo Girls. Oh, Amy Ray and Emily Saliers are present, but The Indigo Girls aren't. This is less of a collaboration with the two wonderful voices blending and complementing each other in ways seldom seen outside of a family group, than an "ok, you sing back up for me then I'll sing back up for you." Become You sounds like each person is recording their work completely independent of the other.
Is this just a new road that the Girls are taking fans on? They've shocked us and rocked us before, but somehow I can't help but think that with the Sony contract up soon, this is the pre-swansong of The Indigo Girls.
