INXS The Swing

I first bought The Swing about 15 years ago, and after wearing out 5 copies of the tape I finally got the CD. It still sounds as good as it ever did. Nothing after The Swing and Shaboo Shabah ever had as much feel and soul for me. Most of the tracks are good, but particularly Love Is(What I Say) and Johnson's Aeroplane are my favorites. Love Is is just a good song, plain and simple. Johnson's Aeroplane is an incredible piece, from the rural, meaningful lyrics, to the guitar effects that mimic the sound of Johnson's crop duster taking flight, and because of the way it brings out the smooth, haunting beauty of Hutchen's voice in a way that the more pop- oriented INXS songs can't do. Those who haven't heard The Swing, which didnt get airplay except perhaps for Original Sin, will definitely discover a whole new INXS with this older but not dated album.
