I just can't figure out what's supposed to be bad about this. It's very melodic, but still hard-rocking, and the songs are just so incredibly well-made. I mean, with 6 guys in the band, you'd think it'd be a mess, but this album still managed to sound very organized. Janick Gers, despite what anyone says, is a great guitarist, and he works well with Dave and Adrian. Nicko pounds out some of his best drumwork to date, and Bruce puts on a stellar performance rivaling that of "The Chemical Wedding". If I had to pick a favorite, I'd go with "Ghost of the Navigator". You gotta love that intro, and Nicko's drumming on this one is just so cool (I'm a decent drummer myself, but man I'd kill to have that kind of coordination). But man, every song here is a winner.
I still think "Powerslave" is and always will be Maiden's best, but there is no denying how awesome and well-made this album is. If you like Maiden, buy this. It's just plain good.
