Iron Maiden

Brave New World

Amazing

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (10/10)
First off, let me say that I'm relatively new to Maiden. This is the second album I've purchased, the first is Number of the Beast. I have of course also heard a significant portion of their other work.. :)
In my opinion, this beauteous work of art is far superior to NotB (yes, GASP, I DARE to oppose the will of the swarm...). The supposed Maiden classic track (Hallowed by Thy Name) gets its little booty kicked far out of the window by Nomad, which is the best track on BNW.
Yeah, anyways.

Wicker Man - a half decent track somewhat reminiscent of their earlier works.

Ghost of the Navigator - One of the less good tracks on the album, this is nonetheless amazing. It could stand being a minute or two shorter, however.

Brave New World - one of the best tracks on the album. The first three minutes are ungodly.

Blood Brothers - I'm not sure what to think about this. On one hand it kind of drags on in places, yet it never gets boring. If that makes sense to you, you must transfer your brain into my skull.

The Mercenary - Maybe it's just me but this track seems completely out of place with the rest of the somewhat mellow stuff on the album. Nonetheless it is still a good track.

Dream of Mirrors - This is a great track. My only gripe is that it drags on at the end, could be 2 minutes shorter and just as effective and more enjoyable. Don't get me wrong, I love long tracks...but in my opinion Maiden's not very good at holding interest when they start getting near 10 minutes (sorry). The
Rime of the Ancient Mariner rules, however (as well as lots of other Maiden songs, as if you need to be told)..

The Fallen Angel - Similar to The Mercenary, I think this is a little better and is probably the most 'anthemic' (although I hate the very notion of 'metal anthems'...brings images of Manowar to my mind...*retch*). Or something like that. Yeah...

The Nomad - as I already mentioned, I think this is the best song on the album. It's the only long song that doesn't drag on at all. The chorus is amazing, and the bass is just godlike. Overall an amazing song.

Out of the Silent Planet - Right up there with Brave New World and The Nomad, this is an amazing track. It could have been a little longer but perhaps then I would whine about how long it is... :)

The Thin Line Between Love and Hate - This song doesn't drag as much as The Mirror... but it does drag a little. It's still very good and overall a solid close to the album.

In conclusion, I feel this is a fine album that "MUST BE OWNED!..." by everyone. Or, more accurately, if you're into Maiden or 80's metal or even if you just think you might like this, I highly recommend it. It rules.
