That being said, I believe this is Maiden's best effort since 1986's 'Somewhere In Time'. The singing is better than on any recent maiden disc that I can think of now. And although I liked 'Brave New World', "Brave" kind of sucks when compared to 'Dance of Death'.
This album sees Iron Maiden going toward a more "progressive" metal feel. There is more orchestration on this album and far better production/mixing on "Dance of Death" than that the previous Maiden album. Although, there is some hints to their previous works in songs such as 'Montsegeur' and 'Pachendale' (The best song on the album, I must say).
Moreover, this is a must have for any Maiden fan. Overall, it's a great CD. This CD has smooth flow to it. There is more continuty on 'Dance' than on their 90's discs or 'Brave New World'.
In short, it's a must have if you are into Iron Maiden.
With 'Dance of Death' the band demonstrate, again, that they can make Metal for the Mind.
