Dance of Death

Good Album But Not Maiden Quality

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (6/10)
I am an Iron Maiden fan all the way so I don't want people to think I don't know what I'm talking about, also this review is a 3 and a half stars. With that out of the way here's the review. After the Return of Bruce and Adrian we got the awesome album Brave New World. This album was a welcome change after the X factor and Virtual XI. Not that I have anything against Bailey or the albums he was on. There are some great songs, classics even like The Clansman and Futureal off those CDs. When I heard this CD I was a little disappointed, the lyrics are repetitive at times and Bruce doesn't sound as amazing as usual, it's like he is trying to make every song sound like he sang on the Wicker Man (a kick ass song mind you) but it gets old. Also where is Steve's pounding Bass? Nicko man pound on those drums with feeling I want to hear you rock out!

Wildest Dreams - A little weird not usual Maiden but change is good, problem hear is the general mediocreness the song
7/10

Rainmaker - Great song. Cool guitar sounds like Maiden, but I have heard this and other songs off this CD called classics. I reserve that right for songs that really deserve that title Like The Trooper, Aces High, Hallowed Be Thy Name and what not. Lets see how this songs holds up to the test of time and then label it classic or not. Lets call it a classic runner up.
9.5/10

No More Lies - Classic Runner up number two. Wow good stuff Bruce's best signing on the entire album. Starts slow then picks and ends slowly in classic Maiden style.

10/10

Montsegur - The hardest song on the album all right, but wait what's with the goofy happy parts? How would have powerslave sounded if for no reason it got all up beat, I'll tell ya stupid that's what. This is forgivable and besides that a good song.
7.5/10

Dance of Death - Cool song. Only complaint is it sounds like the Chicken Dance in the begging. A great song maybe the best or second best on the album.
10/10

Gates of Tomorrow - Oh no, a filler. Yeah you can argue and say it's great but it's not it's a filler.
5.5/10

New Frontier - Oh bad luck two fillers in a row. This song is repetitive and boring and worst of all the sound is muffled. The only redeeming thing is the chorus and drums.
6/10

Paschendale - Great song in the spirit of classic Maiden. One of those famous battle/ story-telling songs. No Trooper but damn good.
10/10

Face in the Sand - This is a good song nothing to write home about though. This song doesn't really stick in your mind.
8/10

Age of Innocence - Another happy go lucky not that that's bad just unexpected from a metal band. This one just doesn't really do it for me.
7.5/10

Journeyman - Great slow song, a good closer. I being an acoustic guitarist myself am a little bais. The strings, guitars, lyrics, everything's good here.
10/10

So why the crummy 3.5 stars? Well this album just feels rushed, with the presences of two pure fillers back to back and some mediocre songs and has a less than Iron Maiden begging.
I am going to the Iron Maiden concert on the 31 and will be singing along with every song filler or not.

GIVE ME ED TILL I'M DEAD!!!

Maiden has matured, and still great

Unlike other bands which change their sound to go with the latest trends (such as Metallica), Maiden has remained very close to their origin [ ... read complete review ]
