Dance of Death

21st Century Maiden keeps it going strong

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (10/10)
"Dance Of Death" is further proof of the talent and longevity that Iron Maiden has. Since Bruce Dickinson and Adrian Smith returned to the band in 1999, their sound has moved slightly towards the progressive arena, but unlike other older bands they have not compromised or catered to trends in an attempt to sell records. DOD's songs have contributions from every band member, including drummer Nicko McBrain's first songwriting credit on "New Frontier". Maiden fans don't need to be reminded about how good this album sounds, and how reminiscent it is of Maiden in their 80s prime, but everyone else would do well to experience this album, from the opening power chords of "Wildest Dreams" to the elegant, classically-tinged album closer "Journeyman". Maiden: not just for metalheads anymore.
