The mere fact that the 5 yr older space cowboy album is outselling syknronized should tell you something. This album is mostly just vocals and synthethizer effects. The bass riffs are all repetitive four bars. Over and over again. everything is techno synth. very slick, repetitive, boring. Doesn't sound like Jamoriquai, sounds like 15 other bands that are overproduced. When you listen to a tune on this album, play one from space cowboy next: there is just no comparison. Yes it is true that most people are tone deaf and don't appreciate really jamming music, but those of us who found you in the early days are not that way. I guess its "Just another story..." of a sell out for bucks. Maybe Sony putting the screws to you ? who knows. I hope to hear the old form one day. That jazzy funk sounds is gone. Yes I guess some of the bass riffs are funky here, but when they are repeated ad nauseum without any melodic creativity it really isn't true funk, now is it ? This album is more disco with some lollipop funk and zero jazz. It has cool sounds effects and sounds like a bunch of different tunes from the 70's. But it doesn't really sound like Jamiroquai. It's closer to a collection of cover tunes.
