Now for the Jams..the title cut "Space Cowboy" is one of the most mellow dance jams that I have ever heard. Jay Kay has a beautiful vocal performance and arranges the hell out of this song. The band is in tight performance as well. The song flows through various melody changes and Kay's fluid vocals keep the pace flowing. "Stillness in Time" and "Half the Man" are two excellent cuts that have a mid-tempo, thought-provoking, loving feel to them. One of the more deeper songs on the album is the masterpiece "Manifest Destiny" in which Jay discusses the mistreatment of African Americans, and Native Americans by the Europeans. The song is very smooth with insightful lyrics, fluid vocals, tight rhythm arrangements and excellent horn work. Another of my favs is the instrumental "Journey To Arnhemland", and I have to say that no one uses the Didjeroo like Jamiroquai. Best of the rest, "The Kids", "Light Years Live", and the melodic jam "Just Another Story". Last but surely not least is the musical/sensual jam "Morning Glory" in which Kay and a female vocalist adlib over an exquisite arangement. The chorus of "La, La, La, La, La, La, La" which is sung by Kay and the female vocalist is simply beautiful. My only complaint of "Morning Glory" is the lack of more complete lyrics, however with a song this smooth and sexual, u can over look the lack of lyrics.
I highly recommend this album for its variety and excellent instrumentation. This album proves that Jay, and the band are an important force in music that will be around for sometime.
