Wow, nobody else is making music like this.

People who are too stuck on trying to hear Psychocandy somewhere in here are going to miss one of the great rock discs to come out of the last decade.

These are just great electrofolk rock songs in the grand tradition, a little sloppy, a little poppy, full of accoustic guitar mellow depth and oh-so-beautiful, with these moments that creep up on you and take you back to every good time you've ever had. This is without a doubt my favorite J&MC disc... Yeah, psychocandy is very, very good, but Stoned & Dethroned is just as good, if possibly from another genre. Roll the windows down, open up the sunroof, smile at the girl in the passenger seat and play the whole disc as you cruise down the road, not at 90 because you don't feel like doing 90, but at 55, beautiful, from beginning to end. About the time you reach "Till it Shines" you will begin to think the world, and this CD, were made for you.

J&MC are still saving rock & roll and anyone who doesn't give this album a chance because of some kind of rock critic's dogma are missing a lot of great moments. If it's great music, don't be afraid to enjoy the hooks, even if they don't have feedback that's cracking the glass on your wristwatch. Feedback has its place, but Stoned & Dethroned is an instant classic.
