This CD, more than anything, is a return to the country roots that put Jimmy on the map. But he doesn't regurgitate - he puts a lively new twist on it, and it works. I'm a Buffett fan from way back, but I've found his last several CD's to be a little uninspired and even a bit cliched. He was trying too hard to cater to the "come lately" Parrotheads who don't know squat about where Jimmy started. Sure, Jimmy is famous for singing about the beach and the ocean, but back in the early days, he did it with an unmistakeable country flavor. "License to Chill" is a fantastic collection of songs, everything from rowdy to sentimental and in between. There's really not a single song on the disc that I'm tempted to skip over when I listen to it. It's that good. For all you 20-something Parrotheads, if you really want to be Buffett fans, then go dig out a CD like "A1A" and discover that Jimmy didn't sell out at all with this latest collection.
