Jimmy Eat World

"I'm emo, you dont know my pain.."

...Now when a kid flat out says that to you after insulting his favorite "emo" band you can't help but say to yourself "why is everyone like this today?" (followed by convulsions of laughter),and the only answer I can give to that is "I have no clue". Buying converse sneakers, screaming like you never completed puberty sucessfully and crying about EVERYTHING is the way of the emo lifestyle, I guess. So why are "emo kids" so sad about EVERYTHING? I have a fiew possible ideas for this.1. There using the "I'm sad and soft about everything" approach attract formitible "emo" mates. 2. The commies took over and subjected them to unspeakable tourtures so the only way to vent there sadness is by doing the previously named things. But enough about the whole "emo" culture(if you could call it that), on to the review.

My first impression of jimmy and his skills at "eating the world" were pretty terrible, but to do the review I new I had to approach it with an open mind. Still nothing. His voice just never lets up, its like being the victim of a brutal verbal assault. The only thing this record adresses is this, "I'm sad and angry becasue my girlfriend of 3 days broke up with me and when I was 5 I lost my lucky penny and when I was 10 I..." etc. etc. This band is in no way shape or form like Third eye blind or the alternative rock culture. If you've heard the radio singles I can honestly say you've covered all the topics this album adresses. "Jimmy" (or adleast I'm assuming thats the anoying frontmans name) and his urge to "eat the world" is not talented at all. Blowing air through an empty glass bottle has more amazing tallent than he does. Forcing an elderly man to scream while he drags his fingernails down the back of a chalkboard is better than this. All and all don't expect mr. Jimmy and his unsustainable urge to consume the world to last.

P.S. And no, "Emo kids" are not cute.
