Jimmy Eat World

I'm so glad I wasn't a fan of J.E. World when this came out.

I first heard Jimmy Eat World when Bleed American et. all were constantly on the radio. I really disliked B.A. and The Middle so I never considered getting the album.

A few months later I stumbled upon the last track to their previous CD ("Goodbye Sky Harbor" - Clarity). I literally put that track at the end of every CD I burned it was so good. I then bought Clarity, and must have had it in heavy rotation for at least 3 months.

I tried this album out after falling in love with Clarity. Despite a few decent songs (Hear You Me, My Sundown), most of the album is JE World's attempt at being some sort of intelligent emo Backstreet Boys. I doubt there are many fair minded people who can listen to "Authority Song" the whole way through without controting their faces in an ugly cringe at least once. Believe me, I'm a sucker for a sappy chorus every now and then, but this album TRULY overdoes them.

I'm really glad I hated this band at first, because if I had heard Clarity when it came out, and then stuck Bleed American in my CD player for the first time, I would have been crushed. All the excessively sappy people who rated this album a 5 and haven't listened to Clarity, go buy it now, and I promise you'll be wishing you had kept anonymous with your misplaced praise.
