John Lennon

Double Fantasy

OH NO!! IT'S ONO!!

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (2/10)
I was given this album as a joke gift at a neighborhood Christmas party--a white elephant gift, you know. I was ecstatic, not realizing that, not only did the album include some of John Lennon's greatest songs, but also several tracks by Yoko Ono.

I recall the first time I listened to it. Things started nicely with Starting Over and Woman. And then things went decidedly wrong. A wild, screeching voice was heard emanating from my CD player. Had I put in more than one CD and was the player on random play? Retrieving the cover I discovered to my shock that there were several Ono songs on the album. Oh NO! was right. It became clear to me why everyone laughed at the Christmas party when I was so enthusiastic about getting Double Fantasy as my gift.

I promptly deposited Double Fantasy in the garbage and went out and bought The John Lennon Collection which features the best Lennon tracks from Double Fantasy. If you are considering buying this dreadful album I would encourage you to check out The John Lennon Collection instead.
