Let's just start off saying, sure, she received her stardom from being a TV show winner. But we have to face it, she has the voice of an angel!
I first heard her hit, "Miss Independent", *co-written by Christina Aguilera* and I was very pleased with it. When I heard a few more of her songs, i found out that song is barely half as good as the others. She truly has talent, and I am sure she would have gotten acclaim even if she hadn't won American Idol. Her voice is crystal clear, and so lovely, I haven't heard any voice duplicate or sweeter sounding.
Being her debut album, there are of course, a few objections. However, I have only been a bit skeptical of how she hadn't written many songs on the CD, which was a shock to me, because that's one of the things about artists' creativity that I admire. (Though she did write four of the songs). Some might also be a bit upset of her using the word "damned", though in this case it is a metaphor, so I doubt many parents will be angered at this. So far, that is all I find unfortunate in this gifted young artist. She is going the right path in an industry full of crap, and she's smart enough to sensor out what would really trash up the CD.
My favorites on the CD would have to be track #1, "The Trouble with Love Is" and track #8, "You Thought Wrong". The first has wonderful lyrics and I can relate to extremely well. Track #8 is a very upbeat duet with Tamyra Grey. This one is amazing, their vocals combined are almost symettrical. The other songs are a bit slower, love songs, but she definitely doesn't weaken her voice. She can really jump around her octaves with such grace and ease. All around, this is definitely an album worth paying for, and one that adults can enjoy as well. *I stress parents!* Kelly is a wonderful girl with charm and a voice to sooth your mind.
