A breath of fresh air
Review Score:

(10/10)
I bought this album today, after hearing her live performance on the internet from her Independent 2004 tour with Clay Aiken, and my favorite part of her show is when she performs "The Trouble With Love Is" first as the original version at the intro and in the first verse, then as the Bermudez & Bertoldo Remix from the chorus and throughout the rest of the song. That was really awesome! I love it when artists do that when performing their songs live, so I decided to support her by checking out the "Thankful" album. And I'm glad I did! Here's my review of each song.
1. The Trouble With Love Is - One of the reasons I bought this album. Very gospel inspired and fits Kelly's voice perfectly. Current single with major success in the charts.
2. Miss Independent - Kelly wrote this song together with Christina Aguilera, and it shows. It has a high Aguilera-factor and is a nice sing-a-long tune with a catchy chorus.
3. Low - This song reminds me of something that could be sung by Sheryl Crow, it's very similar to her style. Nice, but nothing special.
4. Some Kind Of Miracle - It's in the same style as "The Trouble With Love Is", and it's another great chillout tune.
5. What's Up Lonely - I like the lyrics in this one. She describes the pain, loneliness and sorrow as actual people who bother her and she wants them to go away. Nice little pop song that gets you humming along to it.
6. Just Missed The Train - This song was done by Norwegian singer Trine Rein a few years ago, and she also did "Torn" nowadays mostly known by Natalie Imbruglia. Now Kelly does what Imbruglia did and makes a great song known by many Norwegians available for the rest of the world to hear. Kelly does this song justice with her terrific voice.
7. Beautiful Disaster - A nice pop song about being in love with a guy with good looks but who's being far too crazy and never finds the time to calm down with his girl.
8. You Thought Wrong (Feat. Tamyra Gray) - I really can't tell who's who in this song, they both sound too similar and it kinda turns it into a mess.
9. Thankful - A nice ballad where Kelly's vocals really shine.
10. Anytime - The chorus here is nearly IDENTICAL to Anastacia's "You'll Never Be Alone"...same string arrangements although it has different lyrics. Now I'm not saying the whole song is identical, but the chrous is really similar. If you're familiar with Anastacia's song you know what this one sounds like. Kelly sings beautifully though and her voice saves this one from being an Anastacia rip-off.
1. A Moment Like This - I read in a review here that this is an old Whitney Houston song. Whitney's songs are very demanding to sing and one really has to sing well to be able to cover them. Kelly does this and again her voice soars through the song with heartfelt lyrics.
4. Before Your Love - Another ballad, the last one on this album. She really proves she can sing on all the ballads and she really shows emotion in them.
Overall, very nice and varying album. She did have a stiff attitude on World Idol though, but that is forgiven when she brings out a stunning album like "Thankful" and do performances of her club remixes. It shows that she loves all kinds of music, and it's gonna be exciting to hear in what style her next album's gonna be. Kelly to me is a bit of Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, Sheryl Crow and Jessica Simpson. Might sound like a weird mix, but that's what makes Kelly unique. I've never been fond of the Idol concept, but Kelly truly saves its glory.
