Hey...Sign Yo Name On Da Dotted Line

Lil Jon....u already know da deal. He's not a rapper so don't expect mind blowing concepts or lyrics. He's a producer and a great one at that. It's the guest artists job to show off their talent on his beats. You already know his beats are that fire. Don't front you've at least tapped your foot to one of his beats in the last 4 years...believe it. He's become one of the premier big time producers to have on your album (Timbalandesque). But surprisingly Lil John doesn't produce all the tracks on the album. The Neptunes, Rick Rubin, and DJ Flexxx chime in on the production. I don't understand that move at all. Lil Jon is a dj/producer and I buy his album to hear HIS beats not someone else's beat! Ya feel me on that one? And for that reason he gets one star taken away because those songs are obviously the weakest on the album (Stop F...in Wit Me, Aww Skeet Skeet - an experimentation with Maryland Go Go...sorry but it needs to stay in Maryland...terrible, and Stick That Thing Out a sorry Neptunes beat that's just all around weak.
Now with those out of the way...the album is bangin. Basslines are heavy giving a nighttime feel to most of the songs. These songs give you that bounce, that aggressive feeling, that energy. Even if you don't like dancing or moving, these songs have the rhythm that will make you do it spontaneously..you might be able to hold off for a couple minutes but then that head gon start nodding...shoulders gon start moving...next thing you know you gon be outta control!! However, as with all Lil John albums, he will eventually smooth it out for a couple songs. By now you have either heard or at least heard about 'Lovers & Friends'. Undoubtedly one of the best songs on the album and one of the better slow songs to come out this year. Please Tell yo lovers and friends that Usher, Jon and Luda had to do it again!!!! The next freak joint is One Night Stand...sung by Oobie ( where's her album already!?!?!?). It's the joint trust me...play that alone with a female...it's guaranteed. Grand Finale may be worth the price of the cd alone as Nas, TI, Ice Cube, Bun B, and Jadakiss all step in and rip that beat to shreds a classic song. Contract wit Trillville and Jazze Pha is another classic track as well as Da Blow featuring Gangsta Boo who drops possibly the hottest verse on the album. Crunk Juice is a good buy for fans of Lil John or southern style music with that thump in yo trunk (If it ain't 808 in da trunk it ain't knock!). Not as good as Kings Of Crunk but definitely worth the price of admission. 4 stars
